I had one of these that went thru our fire. I am tearing down and found the issue was not heat - the firemen filled the center two cylinders with water. Trying to do an economy get  er going restore and found some things I didn't know. First is there is a tray under the rocker arms to catch oil . Not on a B,C,CA. This one has never had the pan off and is in super shape, sans the center 2 cylinder sleeves. The pistons are cast and heavy. 4 thick rings and no chrome.
Searching really hard to find OEM size sleeves. Finally found some but had to buy the aluminum pistons basically same price with or w/o - hope they work. I am trying to use the old low compression pistons - hand crank version.  I talked to someone here - I can't find the search - who had an electric start bell housing. Would be nice. There was a thread here on cams - each lobe mics the same. I have not degreed it and wont as this will be an 'in frame' .

I converted three of my power units to electric start by adding a starter bell housing. I have one bell housing available.

there have been several posts over the years that say there was a sheet metal pan by the rocker shaft... and your right, that was not on the tractor engines.... dont know why or what it was for.

dont know what your doing for RINGS.. but if you dont find an "ALLIS" set, i have bought kits from HASTINGS for any size piston with 3 or 4 rings... they sold many different variations.. ( this was 10 - 15 years ago)..

Like them all, but love the "B"s.

I have a few of those trays for the BE/CE engines. Anyone interested. Let me know and I'll bring them along to Booneville.

If it was fun to pull in LOW gear, I could have a John Deere.
Real pullers don't have speed limits.
If you can't make it GO... make it SHINY
