I modify all my Fenders.  First is I pull the four screws and remove the neck, then I cut a pair of crossways grooves and sink in an "X" made of brass square stock, then mix up some epoxy, coat the mating faces, clamp and screw it back together tight, then fill the body to neck gap with epoxy so it can never come loose.  Then I shave off as much material from the heel joint, to grant better hand-clearance to the upper frets.

Then I nix the volume and tone controls... direct wire, and add in a mini-XLR in parallel with the 1/4" jack, and affix a pouch to the body to hold a wireless transmitter.

I've also taken to carving out a recess and fit a headless bridge/tailstock tuning assembly, and chopping off the original headstock... it sure makes it easier to navigate around a crowded stage without whacking a mic stand or bandmate.

On my Musicman Stingray-5 (which is a Leo design), I put the body in the Bridgeport and cut out about half the material.  Between that, and the aforementioned tailpiece/headstock work), it went from 13.5lbs down to 8lbs, which really makes a big difference for a 4-hour gig...

But Dave...  My amps all go up to 30... Wink

In prior years, it wasn't uncommon for me to run significantly more power, but modern stage technology means I don't need to do that anymore... but I still have four 18" sub cabinets and four 2600w amps in the racks... once my new shop is weathered in, I just might hang them from the ceiling corners... it'll make cleaning dirt and old paint off the tractors much easier... turn it on, and walk away... LOL

The other modification I do to my Fenders... is remove the strap peg, replace it with a 5/16" threaded stud set in epoxy... I attach the strap permanently, as EVERY so-called 'strap security' accessory breaks... dropping the instrument.  Can't have that.

Steve- I'm bumpin' it to the top, 'cuz I wanna see his pictures!!!!
