Does anyone know the actual specs from AC what the bore diameter of the mains should be in the block of a WD45 gas engine? I'm not talking about the bore diameter with the bearings installed. The AC service manual I have does not give that specs for the WD45. The service manual for a 170/175 does give the specs, but they are different from the WD45. I'm not sure about the spec you are looking for, but the WD45 had a W-226 engine. The D-17, 170 and 175 had a G-226 engine. The G-226 had a different crankshaft with larger bearings and a whole different oiling system. |

| I've just now checked my official A-C service manual. They give no specs !! Any good machine shop (I know...few and far between these days) will have the main bearing bore specs. It would be measured with NEW shim stacks at each of the six locations. In the tractor pulling world, we usually remove the shims and have the block align-bored to correct size, eliminating the shims altogether. |

| If it had shim stacks (6) on the main caps and hasn't failed or spun a main bearing, you know what they did 50 and 60 and 70 years ago??? Put it back together with new bearings and shim stacks and plastigauge your clearances. |
