Would EP "00' grease be close to the specified 250 weight oil called for in the book for the final drive oil on a WC?

Can't tell you. If it was mine the axle/wheel hub bearings would get packed with wheel bearing grease and I'd throw in several tubes of "corn head grease" in the gear case.  Probably 6 tubes to a side if I was guessing.

00 grease has the consistance of apple sauce... That ( or 0 NLGI)  would be comparable to the corn head grease that Dr mentioned..

Like them all, but love the "B"s.

Would 85W140 work?
That’s what I put in my wd and Wd45 final drive…
Never change a WC’s though.

That's the deal with an RC -WC or WF. All they have for a seal around the wheel hub is a large diameter cork gasket that is prone to seepage when oil is used, which is what they used back in the day.

that’s why I have corn head in my WC, its best property is the fact that it goes back to a semi-thick state as it cools and this stops a lot of the seeping that comes when they sit.

Yep we packed all of the bearings with grease already. I was not sure if corn head grease would lube that top bearing enough, that is  the route we will go.  thanks for the info! This has been a 4 year long nut and bolt resto so we wanted to get it right.

85-140 is too thin for a WC . There is a big cork "seal" that is very prone to leaking

It's been a while but I thought a new rubber seal was at one time available from AGCO. I was going to restore a WC many years ago and I investigated things like that when I worked at a dealership. Been 30 years ago though.

I don't remember a lot about our WC.  But I sure do remember Dad having a good supply of SAE 140 around to keep her lubed up.

In my '48 WC I replaced the large cork seals with the new rubber ones. I greased the rubber seals with heavy grease and added preload to the seal by adding a shim ring made from a plastic 5 gallon bucket. I use 85W-140 gear lube with almost no leakage. Working great now for 3 or 4 years. All the brake box seals were replaced along with brake linings about 5 years ago. A WC with brakes that work, rare and amazing!
