When I took water pump off while painting, reinstalled with new gasket.now have a leak appears to be around the gasket but was wondering if the bolts run in water and need to have silicone or similar on the threads and maybe a copper washer. Book really don't show me what I need to know.

There is indeed One bolt that enters the water jacket. i believe it is the lower bolt to the left while you are facing the engine. it needs sealant on this bolt when you replace it.

That's what I was wondering.i may be pulling it apart again
And I think it has a copper washer to but the paint is covering it.
