Wondering if it would be better to put a 226 gas engine in a d17 or a 262 diesel.

What chassis do you have now ??   If it is a GAS chassis, you must stay with a G-226 gas engine. If it is a DIESEL chassis you must stay with the D-262 diesel or G-262 gas engine family. The clutch shafts between the 226 and 262 families are different lengths. The side frames length are also 3 inches different and the hoods, etc.

Yep, lots of differences between the two. Even the lower steering shaft, and the fuel tank, radiator, throttle linkages, etc, etc…. Additionally, the 262 diesel has quite a few inherent problems that are costly and time consuming to fix, and parts availability is a real problem for them also.

No I don’t have an engine for it seen it on Facebook it’s a gas series one I thought it would be pretty cool to put a Diesel engine in it if it was easy and cheap Thanks.
