The rough part is the waiting. When they start I have to wait for them to finish until I can clean up

Tyler, they would have to pick the coldest night to load chickens šŸ“. I worked down in Oglethorpe County today and it never got above 38. I may get to enjoy some snow when I go back tomorrow. We don’t mind Ohio State and Notre Dame playing the national championship in Atlanta but they didn’t have to bring their weather with them.

Below zero this morning at the barn. Lots of hard water and vacuum pump frozen. At least i was smart enough to put a heating bulb on the well head and make sure the salamander worked. No one due to calve for a week. Neighbor has sheep, feels pretty certain lambing will start tonight.

Was -14 here last night, hopefully the coldest night of the season. My old P.O.S. '03 GMC made it to work and back yesterday, has a great heater yet. So that's a win.

Did you guys ever read " jottings in a dairyman's journal " it was a column in Hoard's dairyman 50 years ago? One of my favorite stories was about a blizzard in Montgomery county new york ( for you midwesterners, Montgomery county is slightly north and east of the Yukon). Anyway he writes of spending the entire day, trying to keep up with the elements then completing his day by listening to the cows contentedly eat their hay. I think hoard's still has a couple of his collected works available. Probably the best writing about farm and rural life in the 20th century

Welcome to CC!!!!! Weather is ALWAYS Changing!

A very good friend of mine, who lives in Adams NY (just south of Watertown) said they had about 4' of lake effect snow yesterday. He said he cleared his driveway three times with his tractor mounted snowblower.
When I talked to him about 7 PM yesterday, it was still snowing.

Sorry guys, about how cold it is, really. Heck Neighbour moved to Austin, TX to get away from our winters, so please blame her !!!
Hope all the animals are OK ! Silly cat wanted out after 2 days of this, one quick coffee later he's in, on my bed, squirrel mode..safe and happy ......

Minus 13 this morning. All waterbowls frozen but no broken pipes. Vacuum pump frozen but a little hot wster got thst going. Pulsation was frozen at first but got going pretty quick. Biggest issue was all of down ovid burned down last night. Couldn't get water due to being so cold. They tried for a couple of hours then gave up, brought in three excavators and a bulldozer and sacrificed the hole block and used what ever water they had left to save the library. Only grocery store and diner in town. A lot of elderly and poor people relied on that grocery store and the laundromat.

YOU sayin "for the birds" ?  Now that's funny!!!

Heck, all of us from N.Dak, MN, WI and MI all know,,,,,,,,just wait 10 minutes. it'll change.  Back 60 70 years ago, we had COLD and LOTS of show and it was just an usual event.  Now a days, people panic and it's no big deal.  LIVE with it.
