I have found after much searching and ordering of parts that do not work, 6 volt single contact bayonet socket light bulbs (Headlights, used in many older Allis tractors and green and red too)that will fit and work with either + or - ground!!! AND they have much better light output too!!! Really makes it much better to work at night with my 1951 AC WD! Will work on ANY older 6 volt tractor! On EBAY....

Another thing that is almost always overlooked to get a brighter light when running the 6 volt system is the Headlight reflectors. You'll be a bit surprised how much brighter the Headlights are when new reflectors are installed. many LED lights are POLARITY sensitive.. Thats probably why they dont work on a POSITIVE GROUND 6v system. ------------- Like them all, but love the "B"s. |

. Thanks! I'll have to order some for my WD. I put LEDs in it that were supposed to be ok on pos ground 6v but they didn't work. So I keep thinking of going 12v neg. .

All 'LEDs' are polarity sensitive but what that light is, is probably a 'module' consisting of a full wave bridge rectifier ( 4 diode) that powers a constant current device that then powers the LEDs. Did that 'trick' 4-5 decades ago, had some $$$$ new style track lighting LEDs($300 a unit) did the same. They worked on 12 V AC, still have the $$$$ transformers here. BTW when you run LEDs in their native constant current mode you can get them to smoooooothly go dim, go bright and will last longer. I changed all my 6 volt tractors to 12 , negative ground so I didn't have to see sparks fly when boosting..... Also going 12 , used cheap(yeah, free) CS130 alternators. Gennys are great IF you run tractors for 4-5 hours minimum a day but my use was 'short trips'. ------------- 3 D-14s,A-C forklift, B-112 Kubota BX23S lil' TOOT( The Other Orange Tractor) Never burn your bridges, unless you can walk on water |

I have gotten many 6volt +/- LED bulbs from AMOZON. You just have to read into the specifications far enough to find out if they are or are not polarity sensitive. It is also nice to know if the do not interfere with FM radio reception. I have found some that will really mess up radio reception. ------------- If it was fun to pull in LOW gear, I could have a John Deere. Real pullers don't have speed limits. The add says the color temperature is 6000k. Are these bulbs more like bluish white like modern headlights? ------------- 1951 B |

This is the type I run in all my 6 volt Allis tractor lights It is an 1133 single contact headlight bulb and is rated at 32 candle power. It throws a lot more light than the smaller bulbs used for turn and brake lights. Most of mine also have new or very good reflectors and I have good lights for night driving.  |

Yes, 6k are blue white 3k are yellow like old filament bulbs. Candle power is brightness. .
