Am I right that the S & R terrminals on the starter, the S is the start trigger, and the only use of the R is as a ballast resistor bypass during start? Completely unnecessary on my diesel?

Think my keyswitch is done, going to just run a button to the S, and leave the rest 'til summer.

well you 'could' run 'r' to a light on the dash to come on when you turn key to 'start'......

Yes COke... "S" is the trigger to start..... I or R is not needed.
