Having problems with the fuel shut off valve  on my WD.  It leaks and I can't get it to stop leaking.  Appreciate and help I can get.

take the bowl off gasket and screen and take a screwdriver  or good sharp narrow scraper and scrape the gasket area until all the oxidized aluminum is gone and it is smooth and it will seal

With a 7/16" wrench, tighten the nut on the shut-off valve until there is drag on the shut off handle when you turn it in and out.

Unscrew the packing nut on the shutoff shaft and make a small string of teflon plumbers tape by twisting it.  Wrap it around the shaft and poke it into the nut. Then slide it back into place and tighten the  packing nut 'til it stops leaking.

Be careful you can bend the base where the bowl and gasket sits if you over tighten the glass bowl. So a new gasket is a good place to start if the bowl leaks rather than the stem of the shut off. I have used o rings and other rubber washers in a pinch. Wink Cat pony motors with the smallest size bowls, a garden hose washer is the perfect size. Some even last in the gas.

As  others have mentioned it could be leaking at the shaft not bowl so check that. Mine is doing that so now I just leave it on all the time and no leaks. I will try what Doc suggested - just noticed that comment and it makes sense!! I will report back. Smile
