I am searching for a used loader which fits an Allis 185. Westendorf TA-26 and WL-42 both would work (among others). Westendorf's web site names the 42 as best loader for a 185, so I've searched mainly for that model.  There are quite a few used loaders available but haven't found one from a 185 or any Allis Chalmers tractor.

The 185 needs the AC1 mount, and the most common available appear to be IH1 (from a 1066 or 1086).  A new mount kit costs over 2k, so hoping to save that expense.

Does anyone have experience converting a Westendorf mount to fit different tractor style?

I think they'll be hard to find. I own 1 of the 2 sets of WL40 &42 for AC180-200 tractor brackets I've ever seen. They're far more solid than the universal brackets that came w/ WL40 loader when got it.
The side plates that bolt to tractor rails and the rear drop plates and square cross bar are very similar to if not identical to what is used on J D 3010 - 4020 series tractors, the front cross plate is different from if for J D.
As it's winter my loader is on the AC200 so won't get pictures of brackets.

Would you be able to send me pictures of your kit? I think I need to manufacture a kit myself. Westendorf wants $2400 for a new set

File upload on this forum is not exactly user-friendly. Give me an email address and I'll send three photos.

Don't suppose you could get me two dimensions? Then I should be able to fabricoble a plate and use the brackets I have. The vertical from top of bracket to where the square cross bar mounts, and the full from to back of the plate.

Also, what's the square block do on the sides?

I can take the measurements but it will be a while, my next visit to the farm is planned for April.

I think the square block is just a spacer to keep the mount from sliding left to right. I attached the best photo I could find. The bolt holes which are visible are not used.

I suppose another possibility is some other kind of Westendorf attachment bolts on here, but I can't think of any example.

btw I think this loader is on the heavy side for the tractor. My bottom yolk cracked last summer and getting it fixed was not cheap. It cracked in a spot where had been welded before, so that part is apparently underengineered. We welded an extra plate all along the replacement part, should hold another fifty years.

Thanks for the replies! Something is better than nothing. If you remember in April I'd sure appreciate it. The pictures themselves help a ton.

I'll let an eye out for the yoke. I think mine has a weld already, it was a loader tractor with a different loader.

The ends of single steel piece next to corners seem to be the weakest. You can see where mine was welded once in the rear, then broke again in front. We beefed up all along the U-shaped steel where it was alone.

I have a wfe(white) loader off a 185. Complete with valve. Home made brackets but looks pretty decent. It’s already off the tractor.
