Hello, I am trying to remove a bent PTO shaft out of a 185. My brother hit a stump with a bush hog and now the shaft is bent and will not disengage. I tried to pull the shaft today by removing the rear cover that holds the bearing and shaft in but couldn’t budge the shaft. The replacement shaft that I purchased looks like it would just slide in and out with the exception of what I can only guess is there may be a bearing at the front of the shaft that may be holding it. Is there a bearing on the front of the shaft that is pressed on? Do I need to get the PTO disengaged before I try to remove the shaft? Any information is appreciated thanks

It won't pull out because it is bent. Somehow get something welded to the junk shaft so you can hook a chain onto it and pull (or yank) it out. Drain all the oils first.

He's talking to drain the transmission (plug is above the drawbar under rear of tractor) and the torque tube/ hydraulics ( 1/2" pipe plug in housing just ahead of left step).
