I went out to chop stalks in my power shift 7040 today and tractor wants to keep moving with clutch depressed. I have to go almost to trans brake to get it to disengage, then it stops hard if I go too far. This is a power shift so no clutch cable. Just wondering if there is an easy fix or is this will this cause me a “splitting headache”?

Stepping on the inching pedal must make the shift lever go fully into 4th gear position or the tractor will not stop moving.

She drops to 4th but still pulls a bit with clutch down

When not "pulling" a load, when the inching pedal is depressed just down to the brake zone, at FULL throttle, it takes the transmission about 2 seconds to release. 5th and 6th gear much worse than 1-2-or 3. I doubt that there's anything wrong. You just ain't used to the quirks of a Power Shift tranny. If you are using 6th gear, switch to 2nd gear high range.

Most of this was happening in 5th high going to the field. Intersections were kind of sketchy. I really had to throttle her down.

Throttling down works best. The Power Shift isn't made to roll up to a stop sign at full throttle and depress on the inching pedal to stop. And also really not made to restart motion at full throttle in 4th gear. Shift to third and start out about 1500 RPM, increase engine speed some and start progressively up shifting one gear at a time.

If I have to come to a complete stop I slam it into neutral  coast to a stop.
