Does anyone know how many shank anhydrous applicator I could pull with a 240 pto hp. front wheel assist tractor? I know terrain and soil type would probably make a difference but its going to be pulled in hills as well as bottoms. Im thinking an 11 or 13? thanks

I would say 13 or even a little bigger. The local fertilizer dealership has many tractors running with big applicators. The newer big horsepower row crop tractors seem to handle them with ease. A few years ago one of them was running a FWA AGCO DT 180. Stayed right in there with the Deere. Speed is really the issue.

My cousin pulls an 11 shank with a 4640 Deere with no trouble.

It also makes a difference if you have no til coulters, but you will be able to pull 13 with ease. I pull 13 with my 7060 2WD.

Tried 11 with our 7040 that has been turned up, but it couldn't handle it in all situations. You probably can handle a 13, just depends how deep you go. We spring apply below the row, so we go DEEP.

240 hp FWA? 16 or 17 knife easy. I pull 11 with the 7060 and 13 with the 8050 FWA.

I used to pull 13 on a 3 point tool bar with an 8640 Deere at about 6.5 mph. The problem we had was getting enough on. We ran 2 control valves at slightly different pressures(6 knives on one and 7 knives on the other) but had to limit our speed anyway.

It all depends on the knives and the soil, you could pull 11 mole knives 11" in heavy soil with 240 hp. We used to pull 19 regular knives 7 mph 6" deep in medium soil with an 8070 FWA.
