I have a 1984 Allis Chalmers 6060 433T  4 cylinder turbo engine having fuel injector pump issues, will start and run for about 1 to 2 minutes, the RPM's begin to drop, the tach will bounce up and down from 500 rpm to 1500 rpm but the engine sounds to stay the same @ about 900 RPM, with some to no throttle response and no power and then engine will start to drop off and shut down, wait about 30 seconds engine starts right up and does the same thing after about 1 to 2 minutes, I have drained the fuel tank replaced with new fuel, replaces fuel filter twice, bled system through the filter through the pump through the injectors several times and get the same results. The tractor has 4220 total hours on it
 It has a Stanadyne 4008997 2300rpm  DB2-3836  4976346 Injector pump. What could be the problem, is it a failing injector pump?

 How do I time the engine and pump before taking the pump off and reinstalling another pump? How do I time the new pump? Who rebuilds these pumps and where could I get a replacement pump if this is my problem?   HELP!

Try taking the return line check valve fitting out of top of pump and see if there’s a bunch of gunk in it. There’s a little glass ball in there. If there’s gunk blocking it and you’re able to clean it out. See if runs after that. If so your pump needs rebuild. The flex ring is coming apart inside and sending little pieces into fitting. Some say to nock that glass ball out to see if will run. But then you will need to replace fitting to.
I’m not a pump expert but happened to us before and that’s what it was.

If you suspect return line blockage on an engine with a Rossamaster injection pump, a very simple test is to just loosen the two small screws that hold the little rectangular cover on the side of the pump. That is the timing window to align the marks for pump removal. Let some fuel bleed out of there while it's running and see if it picks up. If it does,then your return fuel is restricted.

Very common issue with the Roosa/Stanadyne DB or in this case DB2 pumps, broken down flex ring inside the pump, pieces plugging the return fitting on top, or if it's already been knocked out, somewhere between the pump return and tank is plugged.  A good shop will offer the guidance for removal and reinstallation, when they do the rebuild job, I know I do. They get sent to me from all over, so I could do yours for you if you have no one close you can trust.
