I was looking for a couple jumper cable type clamps to carry A LOT OF CURRENT to a remote electric motor.. Looking on AMAZON i saw several options.. One said " 1100 amp capacity"... i though ... YEA RIGHT !!   But for the cost, i thought i would try them.. They came in today and THEY ARE HEAVY !!.. THICH METAL.. HEAVY SPRING... LOTS of CLAMPING FORCE... I am presently suprised... they said the cable eye is large enough for a  #0 size cable !!

If your looking for a HEAVY SET of clamps... i suggest this...

They will work at capacity for a while. While still new remove the fastener holding the lug to the main handle and smear a conductive grease between that connection like you would do terminating copper entrance cable to lugs in an entrance panel. Most of the inexpensive clamps like that utilize a copper plated steel crimping lug and it's a small surface area for such large inrush current and the resulting heating will cause a loose connection exacerbating the problem further. I typically solder the lug to the welding cable myself and then shrink tube the lug termination along with environmental encapsulation of the complete termination. But, that's just what I do.

Lug appears to be copper. I crimped it onto a #1 gauge wire about 10ft long,  and then soldered.. One bolt screws it to the handle..... Spring is so stiff it takes most of what i got in one hand sto squeeze it...  Im running a 3000 watt motor on a hydraulic pump ( similar to a 12v winch motor) and that would be about 250 amps.... should be a good load, but easy for these claamps !

You have better ones than I've seen many times in the past. I have a set like them in the trunk of the car but replaced the lug with #2 copper using a hydraulic crimp tool. Those are either 25', or 30' in length. Also used a stainless nut and bolt to preclude corrosion.

I have a set of booster cables using these ends from Associated Equipment and they are solid copper in the electrical contact points. 25' cable with 2/0 welding cable and they get used on trucks and equipment with high inrush current needs.  https://www.jbtools.com/associated-6205-battery-booster-cable-clamps-800-amp/%20" rel="nofollow - https://www.jbtools.com/associated-6205-battery-booster-cable-clamps-800-amp/

I do maintenance on a couple 15 ft batwing mowers  / planters / etc for the Son... I needed a way to raise and lower the batwings WINGS when parked in the yard and no tractor available.. I bought a 12v DC motor/ pump with a 6 quart oil tank on AMAZON for about $170.  ... think i will get a lot of use out of it for other projects also..

It's amazing how inexpensive those little pumping units have become; both three, and four way. The booster cables will serve that capacity very well.  I have several myself and if you don't need a lot of flow, they are the "cat's meow". Only drawback is the possibility of cross contamination in the oil supply by interconnecting to different implements. Usually not a problem but something to be aware of.

Seen a cheat the other day to keep cable lug from breaking , run wire down into clamp and loop around the hinge pin and back up to where lug is and fastened , a U loop , then on that set of hold downs (bendable clamps) on handle - secure the incoming wire down there also

I have a couple ground clamps for the arc welders that are made like that... There is a bare ground strap bent into a U and runs from handle to handle and anchored INSIDE the clamp... Then you ground your lead to one of the two bolts.
