Subject: HD5G final drive leak

Changed final drive oils with 50 weight and on clutch side the oil leaked out rather severely.  Contemplating packing grease in, but you guys way smarter than me.  Any suggestions?  Many thanks!

Hmmm... are you referring to the left side of the machine?

Left side from sitting in seat.  Seems to the inside seal or whatever as it's mainly dripping on the inside portion of track.

Upper shafts into clutch housings are LIP Seals . Oil level on outboard side should never be high enough to pour out , on inner side the level is set by level in transmission level.
 Outboard seal of final drive is axle seal which is a mechanical seal on sprocket .

What about filling final drive to level of cap on rear of tractor?  I replaced transmission oil to level of plug on side of transmission.  Does transmission oil comingle with final drive oit?

NO - final is set by the level in the plugs in the drawbar  , bull gear movement distributes the oil to gears and bearings within that case . Transmission oil is separate  and lubes ring and pinion and gears in transmission case only. 
 Lower case uses a different oil also .
