Went by to see a guy I know on the way home today. He was over at his dad's place. His dad was a big red guy. Has some really nice ones. 460 Wheatland, 560 gas, 560 diesel, 660 diesel that is NECK DEEP in rubber, 3 cubs, a C or two, 404, two hs, an M, and various others. What really got my attention was the F-12 under the shed out back. It has steel on the rear, and a single front on rubber. In pretty bad shape, but mostly there. Rims all seem to be serviceable. Engine will need everything done. I'm sure it's stuck, though I didn't try rocking it. Radiator is missing, as is the mag, and the carb. Wasn't able to stay long, but he did say that he was going to finish restoring the ones that his dad had history with or a particular fondness for. The rest would be for sale. I didn't ask if he wanted to sell the F-12, but i'm thinking I might. What do ya'll think? Do I dare put red in the shed here at the Adams residence?
BTW, the 560 and 660 diesel have been down the track a few times. 660 pulled under the name "red onion". 560 pulled under "purple onion". They may be for sale. I'll ask if anyone is interested.

The F-12 sounds like it could turn into a money pit but at least it would keep you out of trouble for a while. What about the cubs?

The F12 is kinda cute, but for all practical purposes it is useless. The top speed is about 3 3/4 MPH. If you are gonna show it only, it would be fun. But, if you want to pull a wagon or use it for field work you will be disappointed.
Make certain the block has not been frozen and broken. It seems like every one I looked at while trying to resuscitate mine was broken by the bottom radiator hose connection. It took a while to find a good donor block for mine. I don't know how much money I have in my F12, but it probably is more than I want to admit to!

Restoring one will also require reviving a lost art, pouring and machining babbit bearings. If you have a source for that it will be a requirement. An F12 is a poorer chose of tractor than a WC.

It's amazed me that the tube from the air cleaner to carb. goes threw the top radiator tank. That might be a hard item to find.

Yep, the more I think about it, the less I want to throw money away on something that really isn't worth the trouble. I can at least use my C for something. The SFW had me dazed for a little while. Now I remember. It's a can't-farm-at-all. LOL! (no offense to any of you red fans.)

Redline, after looking at yours, I realize that an F-12 still looks like it's half-dressed, even when it has all of it's parts attached. I'll stay with the orange for now.

all bottom end engine parts for f-12s and f-14s are still available sleeves pistons and all crankshaft bearings are interchangeable with A and B farmalls so that helps I have a 12 and a 14 and for anythinhg other that parades or show they are useless and difficult to start.
