Hi guys, I have a little 170 allis chalmers that’s my work horse around my acreage. I’m fearing that the clutch is going out. When pushing into a dirt pile or pushing snow she will just stop. Not stall the engine keeps running. After it gets warmed up and used for awhile you can release the clutch and she will just sit for a bit then start to take off. I’m hoping it’s just the clutch as she can replace that but I’m also concerned it might be the power divider. What are your guys opinions ?   Thanks.

Does it do this in both LOW and HIGH of the power divider? If YES then it's likely the engine clutch not the P D. 
 Another way to check is to have the PTO engaged then with a helper to watch the tractors PTO shaft. Engine running, trans in gear, Release clutch and make tractor slip and have helper yell if shaft either slows or quits turning, that's the engine clutch. 
NO helper. I've used 1 of the little wire marker flags wrapped on PTO shaft so can be seen from the seat.

Most likely the foot clutch - especially if you have a loader on the front.  That really beats them up.  The power director runs in oil and can take much more abuse than a regular foot clutch.

Not real easy to do (because of the safety start switch) but disconnect the clutch pedal rod from the clutch pedal and screw the rod clockwise until it stops and retry clutch performance.

So the question is, do you have any free play in pedal? Is throw out brg riding clutch? That's why Doc wants you to adjust linkage.

There should be a couple of inches of what we call "free-play" in the pedal. When the free-play goes to zero the throw out bearing is spinning all the time and will fail in time. If you cannot adjust to get free-play the clutch is on the verge of needing replacement.
