Working on my 2wd 8050. The hose running from the remote stack down to the top of the compensator valve rubbed through and I got it replaced last night. I had to loosen the ORB adapter on top of the valve so I could turn the hose and get a wrench on it. Now it looks like the o-ring on the fitting is leaking, but there isn't enough room to unthread the adapter from the top of the compensator. Do I need to drain the oil out of the hydraulic system before I remove the compensator valve? Don't want to pull the 4 bolts out and be surprised when im covered in hydraulic fluid.

If you have the parts on hand, you won't lose that much oil. The oil will leak out of the pump front plate, while the compensator is off, but it doesn't just gush out. Have a clean pan or bucket available to catch it and reuse it, if you want.
