the air filter for my d17 diesel series 1 is missing along with all of the brackets i hav e parts a series 1 diesel tractor that has a dry type on the left side with the inlet up out of the left side hood .    i want mine to come out of the hole on the right side like it came , are there any options for this i have trying to think of a way for the one i have to work but it would not look good.       i am perfectly fine with another oilbath, would just need to find one to buy withall the hardware .     what are my options?

Series 1 diesel had a oil bath filter system. The air intake comes up through the hood inline and in front of the muffler. Sounds like you found a gas intake that comes up through the left rear of the hood?

my parts tractor has a dry type on the left side  with a hole right in the midddle of the left hood  the one that i am rebuilding will be like yours ac720man  although it would  be nice if it were a dry type .  i do also have a oil bath on a series 1 gasser in my bone yard  will it fit up front and on the right side i have not looked to compare part numbers

The piping and mounting bracket for the diesel air cleaner are awfully unique. I just don’t think you could shoehorn the horizontal dry type from a gas under the hood anywhere.

Get the correct pieces and then use a dry vertical canister instead of the oil bath. Should be plenty from old swathers and combines of the same age. Actually new ones are fairly reasonable price in my opinion.

Thanks Mike, 8 months of love went into it working on it daily. My retirement gift to myself. I can take some pictures for you of the intake if you PM me your cell number.
