This maybe a numb question but I have a 7045 (project) that seems to have a shifting issue. It’s a power direction and all cables have been replaced on the clutch, linkage and pins as well. My question is this, can a weak hydraulic pump cause this shifting issue? I shut the engine off to put it in gear unless it’s a quick shift. I tried to raise a 13” in auger from the lowest position and it didn’t want to raise the auger which is why I’m asking the particular question. So I’m curious if it has a hydraulic pressure issue that is also affecting the clutch when trying to shift gears. Thank you!

Short answer,No. Two entirely different systems. They each have their own reservoir,pumps, lines,and valves. You have two separate problems.

You said new cables. Are they adjusted correctly? I recently adjusted mine due to difficulty shifting in to gear.

I’ve got the clutch cable pulling as far as I think it can pull it. Spring is pulled tight as it can be I think.

Make sure that there's no free play,slack,in the clutch pedal. It has to have a firm feel as soon as you step on it. A gauge on the brake port would tell if it's getting any pressure to apply the transmission brake. Yes,clutch plates can warp and that will override the small transmission brake disc. The brake itself could have a problem, especially if the pedal has been fully depressed over the years with heavy, free wheeling loads behind it. Large grain wagons in tandem come to mind.

You refer to this 7045 as a "project" tractor, which means to me it's your first experience with a Power Director transmission. While replacing the clutch pedal cable, you probably should have replaced the two brass bushings on the fork at the clutch valve, as they are usually broken. Everything there needs to be lubed up for easy movement and adjusted for zero freeplay in the clutch pedal stroke. To apply the transmission brake the clutch pedal must be clear down to the floor. Not close to the floor......CLEAR DOWN to the floor. Anything short of that will not apply the trans brake fully.

Yes, even an extra floor mat and carpeting can change the pedal travel. As for the remote problem, try switching the hoses to another set or even reversing the hoses in the outlets that you're using.

Not the first time I’ve worked on these power director cables ect. I also replaced all the bushings and pin. The pedal has no free travel. Reason I call it a project is I purchased it used, very used actually. Had a loader which is one reason why I’m abit suspicious of the brake being bad or the plates warped. I have not tested the pressures yet. Thank everyone for their help or any ideas you may have.
