on timing, do you use the angle hole on the adaptor or the side hole like on a d17.  also what do you see when look in the opening. don't have book in front of me, but if you read in tech manual it is a little odd what is printed on how to check timing, as to set the distributor in the proper position

Timing hole is on the right side at the center line of the side frame. If the flywheel is rusty, you may need to take a large flat screwdriver and hold it against the flywheel with the engine running to shine it up. You are looking for "F-25" with the engine at WIDE OPEN throttle for correct timing.
