Hello All, I asked about replacing the engine in the 190 and I was told to put the 301 in it.
I tried searching for that thread but can't find it.
So Questions I have is,  Will a gleaner 301 Replace the G-2500 that is in there now? or, can the 2500 block be built to the 301?  Thanks, John.

G-2500 is a smaller bore AND shorter stroke than a G-2800/D-2800 or D-2900 even tho they all use the same 2000 series engine block. For the least amount of work, you should try to find an engine from a TRACTOR so it will have the correct timing gear/front cover for a tractor hydraulic pump. A combine engine doesn't have this, which forces you to perform a lot of work to make it fit the tractor.

Just about any combine engine will have the crank driven oil pump as well as the lack of hyd pump drive ability that the good doctor pointed out. . This swap will not work on a 180/185/190 due to front axle interference. The axle can be dropped down a set of holes in the rear and a plate welded on top with 2 holes drilled to lower the back of the axle pivot AND then the front pivot bushing must be cut off and RAISED the same amount to level it out.  IF you use a 2900 engine the volute is different and taller requiring the radiator shroud to have to be moved.  A 2800 w/o the oil cooler will fit the radiator.   Beware of any swap that involves the changing of the oil cooler as the oiling is different in the system and the plug in the back of the block- internal- is the difference - understand the oil pathway or find someone who does when swapping 2800/2900 engines and adding or deleting oil coolers.

still hafta change front cover for hyd pump, and rear plate,. I can't remember but there's something i changed on the water pump too that way all the hoses fit right, with no radiator modifications.,, but,,, I did have a doner engine, for all the needed parts to change over
