I've pulled the injection pump off my 8050 to have it rebuilt due to some leaks and figured i'd send the injectors out as well while its apart. #2-6 all came pretty easy but #1 is stuck tight. I tried spinning it loose with a wrench but it started to unthread the body of the injector from the nozzle. I'm thinking about making a puller to fit under the turbo, or if it comes to it pulling the turbo/manifold and using a slide hammer to try to pop it out. Is there much of a risk of breaking the injector off in the head? | If you've turned the injector body you are in deep-doo-doo. Probably have to remove the cylinder head to drive out the nozzle tip and nut with a hammer and punch. The nozzle tip threads onto the nozzle body and you've potentially broke things loose. Slide hammer on the injector tip yes. Remove manifold probably. |

We used a pneumatic air chisel after soaking a day - while pulling on the nut threaded to the top. The vibration helps big time. The same method we use getting the head bolts to break loose on a Deutz. Hammer and pull/twist. A bosch puller can be made with a deep well socket or tube... you can buy them - or could years ago.

I have gotten them out, by just barely loosening the hold down bolts, then crank the engine. |
