We posted pictures of a 440 we just 'went thru' on our FB page. Takes this old man too long here - anyway check it out -  B&G Equipment  https://www.facebook.com/bgequipmentinc" rel="nofollow - https://www.facebook.com/bgequipmentinc

We relearned a lot - from the loved/hated 555 'triple nickel' to the truck clutch to the 10 speed road ranger to the Dana final drives. (this one had a steiger 3 point added)
Parts were a labor of love - we 'learned' a lot with hours of research finding seals, bearings and more seals.  Filters were not that bad with a cross over as the previous owner using every brand made :-) we think. She runs, cranks, drives. cools and sounds great.
The 555 runs at 2800 and we had some, how shall we say 'experienced' techs tell us some good and some hair curling experiences with the beast. Seems they didn't fare well in trucks due to non constant rpm's (a lot of crank breakage) and some power units ran at 3000 rpm's we were told. There was a turbo version - but at the same HP - only for high altitude use. Steiger was the supplier - later in their existance- AC furnished power trains to THEM for their 4WD tractors - Ag bar axle units.

A 6V-92T Detroit would make a tractor outa that. Add an FR0 series 10 speed with 30 % gear drops and it would be a mean machine.....

It's good to see you rebuilt your shop. I remember seeing your heart breaking posts about the fire.
