Hello.

Dad wanted me to ask. On our 185 with hyd pto. Last summer he was tedding hay and

When he disengaged pto and was folding Tedder. He brought rpm’s up some as he was holding remote lever in raise position the pto jumped back into gear. Think he said it happen one other time.

What would cause that to happen.

Faulty PTO brake.

PTO valve not fully in OFF or Brake position.

That's why you never go near a PTO shaft or powered implement with engine running.

This ASSUMES he had the PTO lever pulled fully to the brake/OFF position. The PTO and Power Director levers have a detent to hold the levers in a certain position. The detent can only hold so much hydraulic pressure. If the pressure regulator spool is stuck (in the PD valve) and the systems pressure is more than 300 psi, it could cause the lever to not stay where it was locked. The detent latch could be worn out. If you feel it is a real problem, check system pressure first. A sticky pressure regulator spool is kind of common.

I’ll double check with him if he had it locked in brake or not. If pressure regulator is acting up would power director act up too.
