Hi all. I've got an AC D21 that I'm prepping to paint and in the process I've been going around and fixing all of the leaks. My problem is that there is a lever about 10" long on the bottom right of the trans case. It has two positions with firm detents. It leaks like a sieve where the shaft goes into the trans, and I can't find a way to remove it.
   There is also a second hole right below that with a bolt and a spring behind that bolt. I'm assuming this is the detent spring.
   The parts manual doesn't show this lever, and only shows two holes with "core plugs".
   Further more, nothing was attached to the lever when I got it and I can't find any linkages that would go to it. Any ideas?
   Will post some pics assuming that I can (new to the site).

Not sure but could be pto disconnect.

One is for the PTO disconnect, the other is for the range shifter.

Range shifter is shown on page 150.  PTO shifter is on page 156.

Sounds like the PTO disconnect lever, which is akin to doing the PTO lever on a D-14 thru D-19 tractor only worse. There's no way to drive out the pin that holds that lever on the inside as I remember it, without disassembly of the transmission.

Range shift lever. Pull off the cover and fix it. That one's easy.

Thanks everyone for all the input. So it sounds like it's a job and a half to get the shaft out. I wonder if I can come up with some redneck ingenuity.

I don't think I can get the roll pin out as it is but I'll look at it closer tomorrow.

Welcome to the forum.
Are you sure you guys are seeing the correct leaking leaver. The picture is oversized and the lever in view has the cover and if you slide picture to the side it shows another lever that’s leaking oil. 
I don’t have any first hand experience with D21. But what do they do if they’re not hooked to anything.

I think if you split the tractor between the levers, there is an access hole (in the rear transmission wall) for a long homemade punch to drive out the pin and work things apart. Been 30 years ago that was my last one to work on changing gear ratios in a puller.

Thanks so much for all the replies. Yes it is the lever on the right (the one that JoeM shows). I didn't realize my pic was too big. It's actually my uncle's tractor. I'll see what he wants to do. Thanks again everyone y'all have been super helpful.

There used to was a product by the name of " Wynn's Trans Stop Leak " it would swell the rubber round o-rings & the square cut o-rings 12%, worked real good in the Ford c-4 & c-6 and other transmission, Lucas mite have something as well. Key word is Stop Leak ! If ya can't find any close to home ya mite want to dump in a pint of brake fluid. Dave

99% of these old O Ring's  get hard and flatten ,nothing will being them back .It's not like its a seal with spring side  exposed to the oil more.

That, and you're treating 25 + gallons of oil. Then, there's the hydraulic pump seals that may not like being messed with chemically.

Do you suppose welding on the shaft/lever may have anything to do with the leak?
If so, I doubt any stop leak will be able to "swell" it enuf to seal it.

Yeah someone booger welded the lever onto the shaft at some point. When I pulled outward on the lever with my hand it broke off. The tractor is only going to be used for shows and such, so I just jb welded over the shaft flush with the case. I'll keep the lever in case someone wants to fix it in the future.
