Started rain just after midnight, a little sleet mixed where awoke to pretty steady rain so looked out. Did not appear too bad until went out. Rain covered 1/4-1/2” of sheet ice. I-70 between Wentzville and Warrenton closed. Wife did NOT go to work, went in yesterday to make up some hours.

Had plans to go out but a bit of ice on the car and truck and can plainly see drive is slick. This coupled with being the 5th Saturday this week, thinking I'll just stay home instead.

Swamped with work and cannot get out of my driveway. Salt trucks are ending up in ditches. My road district sent out a message on Facebook to stay home. They do not spread salt, just sand the intersections, corners. Frustrating, needing to get some work done. Too old to be sliding off the road. My younger days I looked forward to the challenge.

Sorry about the glove in the top corner. Wasn't going out there to take another picture. Couldn't hardly stand on the road. Slid over the crown and almost didn't get back. My road district doesn't spread but 1/4 mile to the south they do . Just can't get there in my van .

I made it in and then took a hard fall in the parking lot at the job site. Starting to ache.
Should have stayed home. Didn’t look bad down in the holler but up top is a mess.

Stay home Thad!  You slide off of one of those hills and we'll have to go all the way to China to fetch you back!

Been raining on & off, all day here. Temps in the upper 40’s. Predicting rain for the next 4 days, temps into the 50’s maybe low 60’s.

Lot of ice has melted clear today and I ventured out to my shop for a look. Will be a workday tomorrow as relatively clear for access. I can then get skid steer and punch way through drifts to expedite the melting later this week.

She slipped on the ice and broke her ankle.
Guys please be careful

Sorry to read this. That takes some time to heal and years of aches remain. Busted mine in 75 racing motorcycles and still have weakness and sometimes limited mobility with it.

It does take a long time.
I also broke mine in 84 or 85.
Like you, I had trouble with it for a lot of years.
She’s going to an ankle specialist in the morning. I hope it helps with the healing and pain after.

Above freezing and raining here which while may sound backwards, but is welcome as will melt the ice off that formed just before the snows buried it. Very slick driveways.

Thad, tell Jenn that she's supposed to be taking care of you not getting hurt herself. Sorry to hear about both of you falling.

Everyone be extremely careful out there. Just heard this morning about a guy from my hometown that passed away from slipping on ice at his workplace and hitting the back of his head. He was planning to retire next month.

I appreciate it Hubert.
Prayers for the family of that man.
That’s how JB Hunt the local Trucking owner died. Slipped and hit his head.

Prayers are headed your way Thad.  I hope you and Jenn have someone coming in the help you out and cook for you.  I'd do it, but the commute would be TOO much.
Take care buddy and THINK next time.  We all know the horrors of walking on ice.

I broke mine playing basketball back in about 69.  I was playing in a US Navy league on a carrier off the coast of Nam.  I got around pretty well aboard ship, otherwise I'd have been up a creek!  I could still do my job aboard ship.

EVERYBODY!!!  Think and stay safe!
