Trying to find theproblem with the 7080. Was using it 2.5 years ago to mow barley with the discbine. Heard a clicking noise that progressively got worse in the transmission- had to get it mowed so we kept going  .. by the end of the field it was more of a popping noise and you could feel it. Had to haul it home, had 1st and reverse to load with, went to back it in the shop and it was completely bound up. I believe I tried the shifter in every gear..let clutch out would stall engine. Got it split, pulled power director, shim between clutch packs was riding on the splined input shaft, but other than that looks ok. Put a bar on countershaft, wont budge. Trying to remove input shaft carrier assembly from front of transmision and I got it to come out about 3/8" but it just wants to rock back and forth with 2 rolling head prybars behind it. Have all 6 bolts out (one was broke off flush) also have 4" nut off. Have a posi lock puller, but cant get jaws behind it yet, but dont want to bust anything or squish the pto shaft needle bearing. Im thinking to destroy the bearing around the hollow shaft in order to get the housing off..? |

| A good service manual can be your best friend here. You can't remove the carrier assembly without removing the lower counter shaft gear at the same time. Take the nut off on the counter shaft and then the carrier and lower gear will come off together. I would almost expect that you will need to pull the transmission out. There's not much that you do from the front. I should add,if the high side hollow shaft has seized to the low side hollow shaft,then you kind of have a mess. |

| Thanks Lynn, I have a genuine A-c service manual, I must have missed where it said to remove countershaft gear. The outer hollow shaft is moving seperately from the inner hollow shaft. |
