GM and Autocar just formed a joint venture on vocational trucks using fuel cell power .
I worked on the prototype GM fuel cell in late 90's and 2000 /2003 era . This fuel cell was refinement of Allis Chalmers 1950's design developed with US Dept of Energy .
Original AC tractor was around 20/25 HP - the unit parts for GM we made here in St Paul were used to make a 150/175 HP unit .
Now GM evidently has boosted power to a point it will power a truck up to 80,000lb and no big batteries or no use of grid . All the hype of the EV and the dependence on grid power is now at another stage of collapse .

Wouldn't be in this predicament if it weren't for Biden and the Dems.

When we were making to prototype fuel cell plates they were TITANIUM plates and the chemical milling process needed a WITCHES BREW of chemicals to etch the pattern into the plates .
After running the solution for so many cycles it would go dead and have to be disposed of which I had to treat , Neutralize the acid by adding caustic soda to bring Ph to Neutral and then running liquid through treatment system .
This left titanium oxide behind in treatment tank which had to be disposed of - a white paste material - that was feed into treatment system - use to think that paste would be a great paint additive .
Evidently GM has come up with some form of plates that are cheaper than the titanium we used to get costs down to where these units can now be sold . A fuel cell is a lot less cost than hauling 10,000 pound batteries aboard a truck and needing a special charging station to keep truck on the road .
