| I'm trying to put a rebuilt Stanadyne injection pump back on a 1966 D-21. With the engine timing set and the pump timing marks set and the small tang in pump seems to be ok, it"s lacking 3/16 of going together. Must be doing something wrong, but sure don't know what. Appreciate any help, thanks. |

| More info. You removed the pump and did NOT remove the pump drive shaft from the engine?? Yes or no. If yes, you must be one spline off on the pumps driveshaft. Timing to be 34 degrees BTDC. |

| Some times you've got to wrestle them a little but you still might be off one spline. Rotate it back and forth and see what happens. |

| Was the pump sent out for repair? If so did it come back with the throttle shaft tied fully back? Did you tie the throttle shaft all the way back before removing the pump? If all that is a no, I would take the pump back off, look down into the bore and see if there is a tab with two tangs that may be out of the slots they need to be in. Work that into place then tie the lever back and try again. |

I go with Fedup, when I pulled the one on my d262 I never tied the throttle to full and my local diesel specialist got mad at me… ------------- 1955 AC WD45 diesel with D262 repower, 1949 AC WD45 |

| I did't tie throttle shaft back when I took it off, but it was wired back when it came back. I will look to see about the tangs and slots in the pump. Thanks for the replies. If all else fails can I remove the 6 bolt round cover on the front of the engine, take the nut off that holds the pump drive gear on, and remove the shaft, then re-assemble? |

I always take the front access cover off when installing a DC pump like this on a D21/210/220, then I can wrestle the gear in my right hand, and the pump in my left. The thrust button and spring in the front takes some effort to compress though. Good to be cautious, never force anything lol! ------------- 210 "too hot to farm" puller, part of the "insane pumpkin posse".
