This B looks typical, just missing the battery box.

Look closer.

Lots of mods here to allow a short statute user to operate it.

It is also for sale. Not mine.

I have cut 6 inches off the steering column to move the wheel forward, closer to the gas tank... But this one looks like it is 18 inches shorter and several inches cut off the gas tank ??? ..... Would like to see a view of that further back !..... That is small enough for a KID to drive !.... Must have been 4 1/2 ft tall ..

Like them all, but love the "B"s.

maybe he just wanted to move FORWARD with his weight.. Looks like he moved the steering, seat and pedals ALL forward 12 inches .... Maybe not SHORT, just wanted to reposition FORWARD ?

actuall lookes like the seat sets up against the left side fender.. Steering column is not original location... might actually be on the LEFT side of the  torque tube and mounted OUTSIDE of the gas tank... From this angle it looks like it runs THRU the gas tank..  Moving OUT to the left would be the only way to push the column up at that angle as the factory setup is already  close up against the gas tank

Steering column is centered.

No one mentioned the transmission shifter.

I'd like to try out this B.

I don't understand why sellers don't have LOTS of pictures, at least 4 (all sides), in they're ads ?

steering column on a B will not set at that steep of an angle. ( unless the photo is all distorted due to the angle)... Either the back half of the gas tank has been cut off ( cant see that tank ?) or the column sets to the side.. and the mounts on the torque tube do not allow that kind of angle on the shaft.... trying to make it look like a D10 is a good explaination.

photo from above

Dr

I had the exact same thought - a D-10 / D-12 Proto Type.

It might have a D-10 or 12 Steering Box.

The short Gas Tank might be because it has been moved forward under the hood.

The Throttle Lever and Linkage is very similar to D-10 / 12.

Yea... would be nice to know if it came BEFORE the D10.... or was copied later... but it sure looks like one.

.

Could be some interesting history in that one.

Maybe started with a rusted B tank and a D19 parts tractor to scavenge from .

Why would a D10 prototype be sitting on the early style B final drives?  You'd think they would have used a later B with the 5 bolt hubs.  Could it be an IB steering gearbox?  They sat at a higher angle than the regular ones.

I doubt very much that it is  D-10 proto. Just someones better idea of what a B could have been and maybe got inspiration from seeing an actual D-10-12 series.

I'll bet the D-10 / 12 Proto type was a combination of a CA and D-14 / D-17, since they were in Production.

The 'C' had finished in 1950 and 'B' finished in 1956.
