The other one who was on here for some time was Protrucker. Anybody know what happened to him?

Well made the birthday list on the 20th and was thiking back to Navy Days .
Ship I was on changed from East coast to San Diego for home port , and on the trip around the horn of S America I had a bout with tonsilitis and upon being in San Diego got to spend my birthday in Balboa Naval Hospital eating ice cream (then for a few days could not even get that down) .
Seems to finally get out of hospital but San Diego was deserted as the Kennedy Assanation happened and Navy was on FULL ALERT and not a ship couuld be seen anywhere nor anyone aroud . Even boot camp was empty as recruits were sent to man ships and stations as the US was getting ready for the worst .
I semt 5 days waiting at recieving station and with 2 years service at the time I was senior to those who were unlucky enough to be there . Then spend another 4 days at NAS North Island as ship was suppose to be there but still not back to port .
Quite a ordeal for that month and memories of one birthday I never want to ever spend again .
