Hello all. New to the forum and tractors. I recently leased a property that has an allis charmers 8010 on it. It was running recently. The person that had the lease before me was bitter about losing it and when he left he stole the batteries out of the tractor. I cannot seem to wire it correctly to get it started. There is only a black cable by the battery location. It has two terminal clamps I’m assuming to go to two batteries. I cannot find a red positive cable. Does anyone have one that might be able to help me with some pictures of what the wiring should look like? I’d like to get it out of the field and under the barn before the snow. Thanks Bryan 385-383-4220

Go back to the starter and look to see what color of wire is on that…
It may have the “bare” style of ground which is flat gray/ metal look and a black positive style cable.

It may have a clutch safety switch which means you have to hit the clutch all the way to the floor before it will crank over…

After 40 years of others working it, things may not be OEM like anymore. The POSITIVE battery cable was never red, always black. It connected to both + posts on the batteries and then went to the starter solenoid stud. There were two shorter negative ground cables on the battery tray. The starter excite wire is 10 or 12 gauge WHITE in color. It comes from the safety switch on the PTO valve on the rear of the tractor and before that, the safety switch on the clutch pedal. So, there are TWO safety switches that have to be closed.

Bryan, welcome to the AC forum.
Here’s a link to a previous AC 7020 wiring diagram. It shows the battery setup. It may not be exact but it’s an older series version of the 8010? So it might help?

Batteries(2 - 12v) hooked up in PARALLEL, not series for 12v to engine starter.
Battery size is BCI group 31, 650cca minimum -up to 900cca.

Should have 1 black cable - that is the positive terminal.  There should be a braided ground cable around the battery case somewhere - that will be the ground strap.  Takes 2 12 volt batteries connected in parallel.

Hope you can save it.  We need all the 8010's to survive and stay up and running that we can get.
