Greetings everyone; this is my first post after about 8 years off the forum!

I'm looking at buying a parts tractor to have for another WD I'm working on.  It's located about an hour away and I only have photos that were texted to me to go by.

The WD I already have is 100% complete with nice sheet metal, just need to get it going again mechanically after 20 years of not running.

The asking price on the parts tractor is $600.  I would have to pay to have it hauled approximately 50 miles.  Should I buy it just to have if I ever need something or pass on it?

What could you need that you couldn't buy from a vendor for a lot less? That is worth scrap price at best and I'm sure that's under $600.

Honestly, probably not much of anything and saying that could be a stretch.  I had hopes that maybe it had a 3 point conversion, but it doesn't.  The sheet metal is rough and there looks to already be parts missing.

Depends what you need for your tractor.  Doesn't look like this parts tractor has much to offer.

I've had parts tractor WD's given to me that were much better shape than that poor 'ol dog!

I have multiple running tractors I would sell for less!

.

It would be worth that if you needed several parts. Bolster/block/transmission/etc. But if you don't see needing those parts then not yet.

A carb might be $300? But that's missing.
A distributor/magneto might be $300 but that's missing too.

Engine free or stuck?

However, get another one or two parts tractors and you start to have parts to make another running tractor.

Maybe offer half to get all the parts you can strip without hauling on a trailer.

I see a large pile of money in your future. When I’ve bought a parts tractor I didn’t need any parts it had. So I ended up rebuilding the parts tractor. This more than doubled the cost that I had into the original tractor. Eventually I wound up with a matching pair of tractors both rebuilt.

The AC world will not run out WD Parts if this one goes to scrape .

600 for this sounds doubtful, but if there are parts that are needed, I would pay that amount after looking for the best options using http://priceva.com/amazon-price-tracking" rel="nofollow -

X2: I'm trying to clear out unneeded junk around here, not drag more in.

If it was fun to pull in LOW gear, I could have a John Deere.
Real pullers don't have speed limits.
If you can't make it GO... make it SHINY

I am right here, but on Fergusons (have the WD WF running). Heirloom TO35 needed repairs and parts, trans rebuild. Found a guy selling a runner, parts tractor, and a motor. I got the heirloom running with new parts, got the parts tractor running, and selling the olbought runner (it needed a new gov'nor though). I kind of like the parts tractor.

Look deeper than the sheet metal and paint.
However, the carb and mag missing is half the value there.

Wow! That poor old bugger seen better days. Not knowing what you need for parts, but I would think the drivetrain is in rough shape as well looking at the rest of it. Do you know if the motor at least turns over? I don't know, about that ole' girl. There were a few WD's on here not to long ago that were in much better shape for parts Tractors, but I understand it's not that far from you to get it home. Your call there.....

The hitch, the seat and maybe the front rims.
I am always against scrapping em cause they don't make em anymore, but the above are all the only things that look to be any good.  I would ONLY give what ever scrap is selling for.
