I tried to get my roto baler working today after sitting for 4 years. The conveyor on the table will not engage.

Thanks. I should have included more info. The last time I used it it became clogged up and I couldn't get it free.
Today I finally unclogged it and got the belts spinning but conveyor isn't working. I've tried pulling the rope to get it going.
I'm not sure if the twine mechanism needs to be reset or if it is the clutch. Any help would be appreciated.

There is a replaceable wear piece on the dog lever that engages and disengages the pickup conveyor. When it gets rounded it causes problems.

If it was fun to pull in LOW gear, I could have a John Deere.
Real pullers don't have speed limits.
If you can't make it GO... make it SHINY

Thanks Paul. I took a picture of the part I think you are talking about but couldn't load it on this page. It has a threaded hole in it like something should go on it.

Yes: That sounds right. It has a wear pad that bolts on there.

Well the conveyor started working so I decided to try a few bales. After going about 100 feet the baler PTO stopped and the tractor died. Basically the same thing that happened 4 years ago. Then I thought the hay clogged it up but now think something else is getting it into bind. Any ideas?

Are the bale forming belts workly correctly? Sometimes the lower belt get caught by the upper belts . That can stall the tractor

There's a brake drum on lower right side. Make sure that the brake shoes aren't rusted to the drum

Use a bigger tractor!!

No, wait don’t do that!

I tried to follow the science, but it was not there. I then followed the money, and that’s where I found the science.

I did loosen the bolt on the brake before I started but I didn't check to see if the pad was rusted. It ran fine and rolled a partial bale before it locked up.

Hey guys. Thanks for the all the helpful advice. I was able to bale a few today. I took a brass hammer and tapped on the brakes and they popped free.
