I swear I tried the search function, but received no hits.  I just picked up an FL50 forklift and was warned about the brakes.  I have only driven it about 20 feet so far.  If you pump the brakes repeatadly, they will get hard.  This usually points to air in the brakes, at least to me.  The master was full and pushed fluid up when I pressed down on the pedal.  I don't have any time right now, but thought I'd take a chance that someone with experience with these might chime in.  I bought it from a muffler shop, so it had mechanically inlined owner before.  Other than that, and a disintegrated seat, I got it for a few hundred less than renting one for a week...so I'm pretty stoked.   I thank anyone, in advance, that could lend their experience.

could be air... but if you pump it up and it gets hard, can you hold the pedal down and it stays hard, or does the pedal slowly sink to the floor ?? If it bleeds off, it normally means the master cylinder is leaking internal..

Like them all, but love the "B"s.

If you see fluid pushed up into reservoir when pushing down pedal i chances are unit needs to be rebuilt as cups are bypassing fluid before closing vent holes . A small amount of movement should be noted when applying brake but more when letting off pressure

Brake adjustment needs to checked especially with the master cylinder full. The seller could have filled it and you may find it consumes some fluid with regular use. Most of all be safe. Hopefully the park/emergency brake is working.

How do I check brake adjustment on this fork truck?   I haven't checked to see if parking brake works.  I bought it because, even delivered, it was hundreds cheaper than renting one....
