Afternoon All, My dad just recently purchased a well rig with the Allis Chalmers G226 Power Unit as the power source. We are trying to get the rig up and functional and need a replacement radiator. The Engine block # is 17-74960-V. From my research online, it does not look like the D17 Radiators are a direct fit to this unit from what I can find. Is there a viable solution for a replacement? Any information leading me in the correct direction would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your Help Bill

does it look like a WD45 radiator ? ( tractor prior to D17) ------------- Like them all, but love the "B"s. |

| How much of the old radiator do you have left? I just had a radiator for a HD6 recored and had the bottom tank replaced. What stayed was the top tank and mounting metal. It cost me $1100 earlier this year. The list price on a new one online from a few places was over double that. I had to go to a real radiator shop, and they had to look up the core and tanks in some catalogs going back to the 1980s. The core disappeared after the early '90s, but after some calls, the guy at the shop was able to find a brand new core. They had my radiator recored in under a week. That's a "recored" in my book. My guess is that the drawings or inventory details were in some old cabinet in a warehouse, and give it another ten years, anyone who knows how to make this job happen will be in a nursing home or dead. |

I had a HD5B crawler with a 2-71 Detroit and bad radiator , found the radiator from a 47 Chev Delux fit the supports in crawler and position , used it for a few weeks until i found a used HD5 radiator . So unless your going for everything correct I would just look for modern radiator to work or fit . ------------- Faith isn't a jump in the dark. It is a walk in the light. Morning everyone, Thanks for your responses. I appreciate them very much. To answer a couple of the questions, I have the complete radiator that drips pretty bad when full. According to the tag that is still on it, it is a Perfex Corporation Milwaukee. I am not worried about keeping it stock, I just didn't want to spend a bunch of money to have it rebuilt if there was something that would bolt back up without a bunch of modifications to make it work. I have found radiators for D17's for around $400-$600 but have read they are not a perfect fit but work. Sounds like the easiest would probably just to opt for a D17 radiator. Steve(Ill), The top of the radiator I have looks like the one you have pictured. Where the radiator hoses connect are different though. But it does look like the engine cover would fit properly over the radiator. It could be the correct one. I think this unit has been Frankensteined. I found out the installed carburetor wasn't the correct one either. Thanks, Bill

| I've had good luck with radiatorsrus on eBay. They give the dimensions for the radiators. Haven't had much luck having ones repaired lately. What rig are you working on? |

@fjdrill We are working on a bucyrus erie 22w. The Allis Chalmers is its power source. We are going to use it mainly to rehab existing wells in our area. Brush and bail.

| You could also look at the Summit Racing catalog. There are many, many radiators listed, and you might be able to find something that works great on a budget. |

Thanks cor all the info. We just ordered a radiator that is supposed to fit the D17. We will just make the necessary modifications to make it work. It’s just a power unit for the rig. Thanks again Bill

| If this is a well rig that you're operating and the engine is running most/all the time, do you have anything that trips a fuel cutoff if the engine overheats or runs low on oil, or anything like that? |
