How narrow can the belt be worn before needing replaced? Tbran gave it years ago I think. We mudded beans 2yrs ago and I'm suspect of it now....idler is really high in the slot.

As long as the bottom sheaves are the same width front to back outside to outside of pulley (VS Sheaves) meaning the inner sheave is not worn- and as long as one has 1/8" of width BETWEEN the lower sheaves when at the slowest speed - the belt should be fine. Check the auto belt tightening ability by having someone at high idle let out on the clutch in high gear about half VS and watch the inside pulley as the belt starts to pull - it should move in and auto tighten the belt.  when the load lessens the sheave moves back out.

Thanks Tim. Pulleys are good and the cam works. It's just that the idler is running the belt really close to the wiring on the header clutch. Looks like it's grazing the insulation a bit. Thought maybe it's too narrow making it too long.
