Took the alternator from the 8030 to our local shop as it has issues.  They looked at it and mentioned that it is a combination of 2 or 3 different alternators all put together!  The manual shows Neihoff alternators 80 and 100 amp for the tractor.  What size Delco would work best, and would there be any fitment issues?

Many thanks!

they list a version of the DELCO 10SI with 100 amp output as a HEAVY DUTY "direct replacement"..

there may be cheaper options, but many are not 100 amp output.

Like them all, but love the "B"s.

A factory alt replacement for my 8070 was $1100 at Napa. We did a little searching and found a very nice 100amp unit for less than tha $200. Works fine. Bolted right on.

Call Carroll Imp in LuVerne, Iowa. They look like a Delco, but I don't know if they are. They have an alt that I have put on 3 of our 8000's. They come with a small pigtail wiring for the dash light and the right size pulley. Best things about them, is price and they work for years. I have tried Neihoff after Neihoff. After 40 years, they just will NOT work anymore. You might want to ask for Kevin and have him tell you what he has put on our AC's. Sorry, I don't know the name of the brand he sells me.

Think my 2 replacements on 8070's are Bosch. Have to run a switched wire to excite. Not overpriced either.

I took a Neihoff to the local starter/alternator rebuilder.  He said parts are too expensive to rebuild them.  He recommended a Delco 10SI.  It works fine.   Some bale monitors can have problems with the Delco alternator, not sure if the Delco has a slightly higher voltage output or what, but it can cause a bale monitor to shut down unless you run with the headlights turned on all the time.

Look at the Delco CS130.  It's the newer replacement for the 10si.  Can look up the late 80's-early 90's chevy vehicles for these.  The corvette of that era used one that is supposed to have the same bolt pattern as the 10si.  I have one on my 7000.  Only catch is that the tach reads a little slower with the factory pully (factory was a 10si).  It may match up fine with a Neihoff application though, as I think when switching to a 10si from a Neihoff you have to use a slightly larger pulley to keep the tach reading correctly.  But if you read up about them, they put out cleaner power than the 10si alternators, and tend to be more reliable.  They also put out more amps at lower RPMs if you look at the amp/rpm curves.
