I was leafing through some utube videos last night, and came across a curious bit about a jet engine that was built by AC under license from a British company around 1948, It was used in a 'mixed power unit' fighter-sized airplane with a prop in front and a jet in back, created to provide piston engine instant thrust for rejected carrier landings, and also jet thrust for high speed combat. A short-lived concept for sure, but interesting nevertheless.

It was Allis-Chalmers J-36 (de Havilland Goblin), powering the Curtiss XF-15C carrier fighter.

This was the disaster that began the life of the Terre Haute, IN plant. It didn't last long. Austin on here did some research on that plant and put it on his site: http://theweekendhistorian.com/2022/11/06/terrehaute1/" rel="nofollow - http://theweekendhistorian.com/2022/11/06/terrehaute1/
