Anybody have a clue what this bracket may have been for? It is really well made, it almost looks like factory. I have never come across something like this on a B before though.....

That there is an ultra rare pin hitch conversion for a B that Allis was experimenting with to make a line of pin hitch equipment for the B. I have heard that they are even more rare than IB pintle hitches. I have a friend who has a friend who told him and he in turn told me about them. Seems this friends friend had once seen a drawing of them at the Allis factory back in the day. :-)

Glenn, I am 99% sure that is a thingamajig for a whatchamacallit. LOL! Sorry, couldn't resist. It is well made, but I would think it was farmer fabbed to handle a brace for a drawbar or trailer hitch, since the standard drawbar is in the forward position. Just a thought. Maybe they did that to keep from having to swap the drawbar around when they wanted to pull a trailer or something.------------- I didn't do it! It was a short, fat, tall, skinny guy that looked like me! |

Looks like a pivot point for something up front to be lowered and raised with the rear hydraulics?

Very interesting, I brought home a parts B several years ago and it had the same bracket. I didn't know what is was (and still don't) and threw it on my scrap parts pile. I may have to see if I can find it. ------------- Jim Wiggin |

This B came out of eastern New Hampshire....... Maybe some local piece of equipment?

Did the IB have a bracket something like that maybe even on top of the axle?

It wouldn't be a part of the Wiard 2-way plow setup would it? From pictures on Rod Thompson's site, they were very different from the AC 2-way setup. Take a gander at this pic that I borrowed from his site:
