Not sure about the model 40. I have an add for a 60 that shows a price of $545.

I ran a generic inflation calculator and it said that combine would be $12,000 in 2023 dollars.

Seems like that combine was a great bargain.

Simple, lightweight, all mechanical, no electronics to break down.

Imagine retooling that model as new, there are a lot more homesteaders these days that might want one.

There has been a lot of thought in doing that, but it seems the people who have tried found it was going to cost an astronomical amount to get the tooling and factory set up, so much that it would significantly increase the cost of the combine to a point it wasn’t feasible for the target audience.
