Probably a dead horse here. I've done WD/45 gaskets in frame. Would it be the same or easier to pull the engine instead of the front axle? I can get a cherry picker and have engine stands.

I've put them on my engine stand and turn it upside down. It's still a fight to get the cork ends pushed into place and get pan on.

Only ones I've done were getting sleeve O rings or new Piston/sleeves so wanted block washed & cleaned.

I've had guys tell me it can be done in tractor but have never seen it done that way.

Wrap the arch gaskets in a circle (so the ends touch) and place inside of a piston ring compressor around a can or tube the correct diameter for several days to make them take shape. Glue the pan side gaskets with high tack or weather strip glue to the block and let them cure making sure they are glued well 100% everywhere. Place the arch gaskets on the pan ends with the metal clips provided. Rub a thin layer of RTV all over the side gaskets and the inside of the arch gaskets with a dab on each of the four corners and assemble. Tighten all pan bolts in several steps slowly to get everything to squeeze together. Never had to redo one since 1975.

You can't pull the engine on a D17 without taking the frame rails off. I'm not sure you can drop the pan on a wide front with power steering without pulling the axle off first.
