Make sure your setting down when you find out how much it is. Got mine from SLI about 2 months ago. My complaint on the design of the shift gates is that over time it rips the boot

I am trying to come up with a solution to the gates ripping the boot. Thought about a washer sitting on top of the boot to prevent it from rubbing the gates but there is not enough room to allow shifting. I filed the gate edges down and it seamed to help but I’m still not satisfied. When I get some time I will revisit to find a solution.

Just replaced my boot for the second time in two years. Sandy lake has them but they are high priced. I carefully files the gate to remove any sharp corners last time. did not work well. This time I made a small washer to go on top of the boot. ( very small ) and filed to fit the shape of the shifter. With it pushed as far down as possible drilled a 3/32 hole through the shifter and put a spring pin in place to hold the washer down. It seems to work fine as the boot does not come in contact with the gate. Clears the gate in any gear by over 1/2 inch. So far so good !!! Now to change the transmission oil that was contaminated with water. 29 quarts !!

Does the shifter knob just screw off?

Thanks Jim that’s close to the idea I had so I’m glad that works. Brian, there is a locking nut under the knob, loosen that first and then the knob will unscrew.
Another idea was to run a die down the the shifter to get some threads for a nut to hold a washer. I realize it’s a oblong shifter but I think that would work as well. Good to know your idea works. I think your referring to a roll pin?
