I would like to replace the current seat of my Allis Chalmers with a bench seat like on the C model.
What are the measurements to correctly position this seat in relation to the steering wheel. Height and distance from the steering wheel.
Probably, some have already made these modifications on a D272 or another tractor

Hi John

Couldn't you use the dimensions for the existing / original seat?

BTW my father was an Allis Dealer back in the day, and I remember him selling a D-272 to a retired Army General.

John, the bench seat on the B was mounted to angle iron frame that held the fenders to the axle castings... There were a couple different holes so the seat could be moved forward or back depending on your height... There was also an EXTNESION frame to lift the seat up about 3 inches to get you closer to the steering... and i think that was used with the rock shaft install on some tractors..

you also have to take into account the FOOT PEDAL location.. Not only comfortable for arms to steering wheel... but comfortable to reach the pedals... Some people are several inches taller than others.

Like them all, but love the "B"s.

very NICE... I have not taken a good look at the BACK end of a 272 before... Nice WIDE fenders.. Good setup on the 3 pt LIFT cylinder... and that 3 point system is GREAT.

try to make your photos 750 or 800 pixels wide to better fit on the page.... 800 x 600 is a common size...
