I am wondering if my D-15 doesn't like slopes? I have a field that I mow which not only slopes, but is also up and down / rolley-polley. Occasionally when I am on certain terrain - slopes and downhill - the engine bogs down. Sometimes it catches and regains power (pushing in the clutch seems to help), sometimes it totally clonks out. After it clonking out the other day on a slope, I noticed that gas was dripping out of the choke mechanism on the carburetor. I turned the gas off and drained the carb. After about 30 minutes it started back up. Towing it to flat and level ground does the trick too. Is gravity an issue here? Do I just need to learn to live with this?

Issue #2 - last winter when it was darker outside, I noticed that a spark plug was occasionally arcing electricity to the block next to it. I made sure, I thought, that the the plug cover was seated firmly, but it still arced. I haven't noticed lately, but I assume it still does. Any ideas as to why? Thank you!!

I'd be replacing the plug wires if I saw them arcing across to block. The boot and insulation will weaken with age and allow spark energy to "leak". Have seen this in older vehicles I have also.

#1 might have a small hole in the float and it's got gas inside it,so it won't float properly ?

maybe a sticky needle valve due to 'varnish' build up ?

I'm wit' Jay. Floats to high, or possibly a sinking float. Shouldn't matter if your property is like a roller coaster. Shouldn't have any adverse effects on the Carburetor unless the tank is super low of fuel and fuel is sloshing back n' forth in the tank. Fuel coming out the intake hose usually is either a float problem or dirt in the needle valve not allowing the needle to seat raising the float level high. Any Black smoke coming out of the stack when it starts acting up?

I have not noticed any black smoke upon the weekends worth of start ups. I will check out the possible carburetor issues - float and/or needle. A big thank you for the suggestions!
