I had a John Deere 316 (which was supposed to be one of JD's classics). It was kind of like the snowmobiles of the late 60's/early 70s; use it a while and work on it.
My cousin has a JD zero turn which constantly has problems.

I don't know Fred very well, but he could be just agitating us about the green mower...

I've got a JD 214 and a 216. Normal maintance and they run for years. We have a 318 at the farm that mows a couple acres of farm yard a week and is constantly on the grain auger of the little harrow. Other that fluid and filters its survived years of abuse it's not pretty as its been rolled mowing the ditch a few times. The new Jd we bought for the church gets an annual oil change blade sharpen and battery then used by anyone willing to mow the 4 acre yard. My boss however has a box store JD it's a piece of junk. We've replaced many parts.

Thats just wrong.

I tried to follow the science, but it was not there. I then followed the money, and that’s where I found the science.

Used to heap Gravely stuff up around myself. Getting that stuff out of my garage was liberating. All that remains is a 12hp walk behind with 40" deck that I grew up with from the early 80s.

But I now with a Bad Boy zero turn now and will NEVER go back.

A (older) friend of mine had a Bad Boy zero turn that he loved. Last year he tried out a Toro with suspension and now he says he will never go back to any mower without suspension.

I bet old Fred is chuckling because he got us all arguing!!!

I certainly wont argue that suspension wins. But I'm a settler. I content myself with a suspension seat for a great price on a used machine in good shape.

Gravely 8000 series still stir my loins but I'll probably never own another.

JD could only have wished they built a tractor that good. What an insult to us all. Poor C is probably crying under the paint.

Love my Bad boy mower. It's a 2010, but man does it mow! That 27HP Kohler rock n' rolls too! I can cut 3.5 acres pretty quickly.

Fred, if you wanted green ya should have found one of these 919 hydro’s. I hate the lime green but it’s a darn good mower.
