I found a D-14 that had a hard life.  It's getting better and now runs and I can mow with it.  However, I need to change the oil.  The oil sump plug is frozen and now the head is starting to get rounded off.  I find it hard to believe since it should be well oiled.  Anyway what can I do to remove this plug??  Thanks in advance for any advise.  Going orange is going great!

Try  a  6 point socket first if it is a hex head.

If no luck, then a pipe wrench.

If it is the pipe thread one ,I have put a nut over it and welded it fast to plug.

Water will settle to the bottom of the pan and if the tractor wasn't run for a time the water can rust the threads. Get the plug out and clean the threads in the pan and replace the plug. If it is a NTP thread you can get plugs with a 3/8 square female type socket instead of male. Then you can remove them with a 3/8 ratchet. It would not hurt to add a touch of grease to the threads when assembling.
